Paintings from Yosemite

Half Dome, Watercolor, 16 x 16

These watercolors were painted during my trip to Yosemite at the beginning of the summer. Martha, Teri and Betty invited me to join them for a week long workshop in Yosemite with Fealing Lin, who gave great demos and critiques.

It was a great week with beautiful views, lots of nice artists and seni-roughing it in a tent-cabin in Curry Village.

My Weekend

This weekend I participated in Palo Alto's "To Life!" Jewish Art Festival. About 70 artists are juried into this annual art festival and exhibit. On display were my hand-painted silk tallit (prayer shawls), scarves, challah covers, some fun things like hand-painted silk hats and ties, and a few paintings.

Big thanks go to husband Dave and niece Rachelle for all their help.

Art By Erika: Hillary's Oil Portrait and silk art

Art By Erika: Hillary's Oil Portrait and silk art

THANK YOU, ERIKA!!!

This blog is dedicated to the relentlessly loving and persistent Erika who said, "Hillary, you need to have a blog of your artwork!" Then she went and told a bunch of people that I actually had a blog, and so I had to get off my couch and put those bon bons down and do something.

Please visit my web site to see more of my work. I hope you'll leave comments on this blog if you have any questions or comments about my work.

Thanks for visiting!

Julie's Red Pepper

My friend Julie loves to garden. This year she had a plethora of hot red peppers. This is a watercolor, about 9 x 11.

Newest Silk

Here is my latest Silk Painting. It is a tallit, or Jewish Prayer shawl. The torah is often referred to as a "tree of Life." The Hebrew calligraphy in the middle says, "It is a tree of life to them that hold fast to it and all its supporters are happy."
